Our Story
Thirty-seven years of following the light
Northern Sun opened in 1989 in Pictou County, and found its home on the Mahone Bay waterfront in 2003. As the collection grew, so did the gallery — a thousand square feet were added in 2008 to make room for more of the artisans we love.
What hasn't changed is how everything gets here: chosen one piece at a time. The jewellery, the seascape paintings, the pottery and the handmade giftware are gathered from Maritime artisans — the kind of work you won't find in your local mall or big-box store.
